Project Highlight:

Data Center Migrations and Upgrades – A common engagement in IBM GBS with the Systems Group was Data Center Migrations and Upgrades.  These are typically complex multistage projects where in conducting proper performance testing imperative to project success, both before and after migration. I took a lead role in defining and monitoring adequate test coverage over numerous engagements ensuring successful outcomes for the final migration and upgrades.  Most of the clients I work with in this space were from the Banking and Finance industry sector.

Security, Network, and System Assessments – In my work with GBS engagement models there were a group of assessment strategies that had been used over the years.  To meet the needs of clients who wanted to take a holistic approach to system and infrastructure improvements or upgrades I authored a revised and blended assessment methodology.  This was very popular and successfully sold and applied with many clients.  The results were actionable and clear allowing change to transition to implementation in a shorter timeframe than the traditional strategies.

Project Highlight:

Information Gathering for Construction of Physical Simulation Models for Performance Studies – A problem I found upon becoming the Sr. Programmer Manager at IBM’s ECoC was that there was insufficient data gathered to properly characterize the network and system that would be tested in our physical simulations.  To address this I architected a solution that would gather every configuration value and setting for the infrastructure, network, software, and application in residence. This was then sent with a manifest to our custom data warehouse where it was analyzed to create a physical representative model and to design a test that would mimic the patterns of traffic observed in the original environment.  There were many other supporting systems that followed downstream in our applied research but this tool became very useful to other internal organizations seeking to better understand the full scope of complex infrastructures and the ecosystems of software and applications that lived within them

Aspen Technology, Inc., Cambridge, MA, USA                                                                                                                                                                                1997 – 1999

Project Highlight:

Delivery of Global Sales Force Automation Solution– AspenTech was a growing enterprise with many sales teams spread around the world.  They did not have much more than email and calendars to track and manage their opportunity pipeline or sales process. I was asked to source or create a solution that would address this problem.  We selected an off the shelf system and customized it to fit with the existing Oracle Financials system that housed the General Ledgers for the company.  Over the course of a one year period this was accomplished and included the establishment of a global infrastructure in three geographies on UNIX, and training of the entire workforce to utilize the solution to its fullest.
